Oriental medicine (OM), also known as Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a healing art that existed in some form or other for more than 3,000 years. Some of the earlier texts date back from the Han Dynasty (206 BCE to 220 ACE). In the western world, it is commonly known as acupuncture. However, acupuncture is only one of several modalities that physicians of TCM use to treat patients. TCM emphasizes the role of the body in the healing process and uses herbs and natural agents to maintain health. It is an effective form of treatment and a particularly safe form of therapy. TCM is a complete medical system that takes into account every aspect of human life to promote health and well-being. It sees the body as one whole entity like a “Garden” and encompasses its physical, emotional, energetic, as well as its spiritual aspects. It emphasizes on the “Vis medicatrix” the “healing power of nature” better known as “the inborn ability of the human body to respond to the insult of illness or injury and restore itself to health in most episodes of disease or trauma (Whorton, 2002, p. 6).” The goal for treatment is boosting the ecological condition to favor self-regulatory capacity. Physicians in the eastern world are trained to examine skin, complexion, bones, channels, smells, sounds, mental state, preferences, emotions, tongue, pulse, demeanor, and body build to discern patterns that underlie a patient’s complaints. TCM’s wholistic approach to healing addresses the underlying cause of disease, and allows the body to heal itself naturally. Physicians are taught to treat the cause not just the symptoms of an illness so that the body can function more efficiently and therefore ensuring true health.

Your Health Matters Most!
Yes, we are open! And here's why:
We are deeply committed to continuing to provide quality healthcare to those in need through this difficult time. We have already received so much positive feedback and gratitude for continuing to provide pain relieve and health care for patients in need.

It is both safer and more affordable for patients with spinal and other musculoskeletal pain to visit our office than an emergency room and therefore we will continue to be here for you when you need us! We have only 1-2 patients in the office at a time, significantly minimizing the risk of infection, compared with a hospital setting. See a complete description of our sanitation measures below.
6/29/2020 Update: New COVID response measures and community resources
As of June 28, 2020 face masks are being required indoors at all businesses in Daytona Beach. As a result, we are now requiring all patients to wear masks as they enter our practice. We realize this is short notice for some people so THIS WEEK we will provide free face masks for all patients needing them. Unfortunately this is not sustainable for many reasons so after this week, if you do not have a mask with you, we are offering masks for sale for $1 at the front desk.
FREE cloth masks can also be picked up from the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County at the following locations:
-
421 South Keech Street in Daytona Beach
-
1845 Holsonback Drive in Daytona Beach
-
121 Rich Avenue in DeLand
-
775 Harley Strickland Boulevard in Orange City
Please visit www.codb.us/coronavirus for information on local COVID-19 updates.

How we are working to keep you safe:
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are taking every precaution possible to slow the spread of infection. At our office, we have always taken the utmost care to provide a clean and sanitary environment of our patients by cleaning the tables with disinfectant after EVERY patient, washing hands and/or using hand sanitizer between EVERY patient, and ensuring that high-contact items such as door handles are frequently disinfected throughout the day. We will continue to employ these measures with even more care and attention. We also have masks available for employees and patients upon request. Purell wipes and gloves are also available upon request.

Medical Supply Donations for Local Hospitals
As many of you have heard, hospitals are looking for medical supply donations. We have donated several boxes of gloves to Halifax Hospital to assist in the efforts to ensure that medical personnel are protected. If you have any supplies to spare (gloves, goggles, masks, etc.) and would like to drop them off, we will ensure that they are delivered to the appropriate contact at Halifax and other hospitals in need.
